A finished Dots & Critters Baby Quilt!
So busy these days that this is my first finish of 2010. A cute and simple baby quilt for some friends who are expecting but don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl. Their first baby got this quilt, so the idea was that the quilts are different but still sort of match.
I had a great time drawing attention to all of the little critters with the quilting.
The back:
It’s so much fun to put together baby quilts quickly. I might have to do that a couple more times before I tackle another bed quilt.

Love it, Alissa! The circles are awesome. Great job!
I have the owl fabric, but the elephants are too cute! where did you get it?
Love the lone square on the back … perfect!
That is such a cute quilt. I really love the fabrics you used.
Oh, I like the “empty” quilted spaces surrounding the animals, great spin on it! Did you get your machine fixed yet, or did the problem work its self out? Love it!
Just posted my first finish of the year as well, but now wishing that I knew you so that when my new babe comes out it could get their little chubby fists on one of your beautiful creations!
That is so cute!
I just quilted my first baby quilt with little critters…they are so fun! (http://tigers4trace.blogspot.com/2010/02/my-first-quilting.html if you want to see)
Adorable!! I love that you circled the lil critters… very cute! The back is so cute with the lone block.
baby quilts are fun! And your’s is cute too!
This quilt looks gorgeous. I love the orange and green shades you’ve used … and together with the white the colour scheme looks really spring like. Your friend is going to love it.
I’m also getting myself organised to make a quilt, very similar in style to yours and I was wondering how much fabric you used. You seem to have used around 10 different fabrics … did you need the equivalent of 1 fat quarter (50cm x width)of each or less? Even though the quilt I want to make is single bed size, what you used will at least give me a guide.
I really love how you incorporated all those special little critter prints. It’s wonderful!
Some how putting my tension up to 8 made it quilt right! No clue why but it seems to have worked itself out… I really should get ‘er serviced though!
The elephants are also from Alexander Henry – I can’t remember where I bought it… sorry!
so sweet for the lucky little baby! the quilts really compliment each other.
Looks lovely – I adore making baby quilts and couldn’t think of doing anything else. Check out my elephants at http://thecontentedquilter.blogspot.com
Love this!! The color combo is amazing!
So cute! I have a project in the works using that AH owl fabric.
great quilt… I’m about to finish off my baby sized quilt tonight….. just need to hand sew the binding on.
I really like the quilting – good idea highlighting the figures/animals. I’m adding it to my idea list.
So cute and love the color/print combination.
It’s great – I love how you can work out lots of ideas in smaller quilts, but I’ve also not done a bed size quilt either.
This is so colorful, great work!
simple… but so adorable & cute!
I love this quilt. The fabrics are so cute and I love the quilting on it. And, I REALLY love the back! That one block just makes the back so much more interesting to look at! Great job!
Oooo I love the orange and green! I am making a quilt in those colors right now. And, yes, you gotta love the size of baby quilts, especially when it comes to quilting the darn thing! I think that’s about the only size I have time for right now!
How adorable – I love the idea.
