I know you all just saw this quilt top – but it’s now finished!
I ended up binding it in black (this is my first use of black in a quilt ever) and I’m really happy with the outcome.
And of course I did another of my usual pieced backs:
I really enjoyed working in all neutrals, but now back to color!!
it looks really good!
and the back makes it reversible too.

I like the back as much as the front! The black binding is great too.
It came out beautifully! I like how the blocks all pop against the brown. I must say working outside my comfort zone sometimes creates my favourite quilts.

Black binding was a perfect choice. Black makes these neutrals pop, kind of like what white does with colors.
This really is quite stunning and very masculine. I have five boys, but I keep making girly quilts. (In my defense, I do have two girls as well, but the boy side of things is easy to neglect.) I may have to add this to my ever-burgeoning quilts-to-do list. Love it!

Love the way this looks quilted. I mean I already liked it in your last post, but there is something about the quilted look that makes it even better! Oh, and I totally dig the black binding…. probably wouldn’t have thought of going that route, but it totally works!
I forgot to add before tht I think the photography is super cool. I love the skirt hangers you used to hang it from the tree. Why don’t I ever think of ideas like that? Well, I think I will have to copy that one. And the picture with the car in the background. Love it.

Gorgeous result – love the back, too. I don’t think I’ve ever used black in a quilt either… My sister did one that was entirely black and dark grey fabrics that turned out amazing. You actually see all the different “colours” of black.
I like this a lot, it really lets the patchwork do the talking!

So…could you tell me the name colors of the solids you used in this quilt. Are they Kona solids? I am going to take a class to make a Lone Star quilt and would love to make it in all these solids. I am a new quilter and your blog is very inspiring. Thank you!!!

Thanks for your kind words about my blog!
There’s all different sorts of fabrics in the quilt but mostly Konas. Taupe is the background color and there’s different whites, ash, medium gray, coal, stone, black… that’s all I can think of right now! There’s also some cotton/linen blends and some linen in the quilt too. It’s a big mix!

I love the colours on this neutrals quilt. It just shows that restrained colour pallettes can have a big impact. Very lovely.
