congrats! they’re simple and stunning!
Congratulations! These are so cool! I was just thinking about how I should change my placemats on the dining room table for the Fall. I love these!
Congratulations Alissa. Love your project. This is a fabulous issue, jammed packed with fabulous gifts to make.
Did you use batting or flannel for the inside layer? They’re really cute!
Thanks!!
I use batting in them – Warm & Natural (or Warm & White) is low loft enough that it keeps the place mats nice and flat!
Congratulations Alissa! They’re perfect!
Love them….now just to head off to B & N and grab the magazine.
Very cute!
Great, Alissa! I hope you are making some *cash* off of these appearances and putting it into a special fund for that new dream machine!
The placemats are lovely…!
AWESOME! Way to go girl. I’m so glad to see you published! Congrats.
Congratulations Alissa on your latest print recognition. It’s well deserved. These are simply beautiful.
I saw it yesterday and I recognized your placemats right away. Even with the fabric changes they are “yours”! I looked down and saw your name and smiled. I smiled because I was right and smiled even bigger because I was so excited for you. Congratulations!!!!
good job!
but i still hate you for being the one to find that dining set.
Lovely job! Right in time for Christmas gift making too and I love that I may be able to use up all those odd pieces of batting I have floating around.
I had already purchased the magazine and found your placemats when I was reading through it. They are GREAT! I loved them the first time around
Congrats! I love those! I’ll have to run out and pick up a copy!
Hey Alissa,
I just finished making one of these and had a hard time making it so the rectangles don’t slant or pull when quilting the vertical lines. Any tips? Also I do use a walking foot.
Thanks! love the look of these.
Hi Erin! Yeah – I too can struggle with that – especially when I’m quilting something big… I think that for the place mats, if you alternate the direction you quilt in (since the place mats are small it’s easy to do this…) with every line it should help balance any pulling. Also, I have been given the tip to check if you can adjust the pressure of your walking foot. I haven’t actually done this yet so I’m no help with how (sorry!) but it makes sense to me that it could have a big impact. Good luck!
congrats! i love to see different fabrics with the same pattern. totally cute.
Those placemats look great on the table. I would love to sit there!
I totally made these two weeks ago from this very magazine! Thank you so much for a great pattern!
I have had your placemat photo in my flickr favorites for a while now. I am going to make sets of placemats for Christmas this year. Ya, I know its July but I wanna get it going or it will pass me by. Where can I get my hands on a copy of this magazine for your pattern??? Thank you!! my email is andreakrauss@yahoo.com Cheers!!
