Comments on: Some blocks for Project Improv

I do especially love that middle one though. The colors together are a combination that I’m digging lately, and I really like how the pieces play off of each other they way they are laid out.

Log cabins are totally in my comfort zone too, but at the same time, if I choose my pieces blindly, or add unconventional strips, like pieced strips, it feels more improv-y to me.

I gravitate toward warm fabrics too, and I was realizing it when I made the quilt top inspired by your land and sea, so I intentionally purchased a bunch of blues and greens this week.

i can SO relate. since i do a fair amount of improvisational piecing already, i’m going to have to come up with something to challenge myself further. if you come up with any brilliant ideas, PLEASE let me know.

i LOVe your blocks by the way. i have serious fabric envy.

I hear you about the wonky block love. In fact I am not sure I am such a good fit for project improv after all, because pretty much all I do is improvisational …now if there was a project make-everything-to-the-letter-of-a-pattern group…I’d have a lot to contend with.

Love those scraps! They make me swoon. I’ve become unreasonably obsessed with designer fabric. And I love that Heather Ross Lightning Bugs line, it’s so much softer than other fabrics.

Those blocks are too cute!!! I want to be just like you.

I may have to try my hand at those kind of blocks soon. Since I have “built my stash”…and hubby thinks I should use it.

I started my wonky log cabin blocks for our quilting bee for you and it’s my first time, so I was a little scared. It was SO FUN! So freeing! It’s not that I’ll never go back to using a pattern, cause I see the good in that too, but this free-style “method” is exciting. Love your blocks!
