I made six of ‘em but there were only four of us for Christmas dinner so here’s the table at the beginnings of being set. I’d show it to you all set, but then you can’t see the placemats!   I have to say, I’m very happy with how these came out.

Why is it so hard to photograph dark brown and have it read true?   The placemats are 14″ x 16″ and I did some straight line quilting on them to keep them smooth and modern looking.  My sister loves them and they look great in her house!

The deer get all the props in Lush, but you can’t deny the trees!   That said, I couldn’t leave the deer out entirely…

I’m still working away at the Lantern Bloom quilt. Only a few more blocks and then it’s time to move onto the back. It was fun to make and finish a small project since it’s been two bed sized quilts in a row. Ok – I’m back at it!

These are quick and fun to whip up. Remember how I mentioned I needed to explore yellow a bit more? In doing so, I’ve come to realize that I really don’t have that many yellow fabrics. Will have to remedy that with time!

Nice envelope openings so that these are easy to toss in the washing machine!

This one’s from the same pattern as the last red one I made. It’s really a great little pattern. I often struggle with handmade purses looking… well… handmade. This pattern really doesn’t have that vibe to me.

I’m going to have to buy more Hello Betty the instant my fabric buying ban is lifted. I really love it so much. To me it’s the perfect mix of modern and pretty.

I’m out of magnetic snaps so I’m improvised by adding a button. I think it’s a cute touch!

I’m not much for linen in my quilts, but in purses?!? It’s perfect. Love. Love. Love.

A new purse for me!

Made with this pattern. I modified it a bit – mostly in how I sewed on the handle strap. I included the handle in the step when you sew the lining and the outer shell together, rather then sewing it on at the end.

And that pretty patterned fabric?? A fat quarter that I got in the Sew, Mama, Sew! fat quarter swap. I love it with the red linen!

Those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile know that I love love love the Mail Sack pattern from Pink Chalk Studios (not to mention how inspirational Kathy’s blog is!) so I figured I’d make yet another. I make the mini version so it’s more handbag-y than tote-y.

Can’t go wrong with this amazing Migratory Birds Echino fabric! I’d been holding off cutting into my little half yard of it, but making myself something with it sure did brighten my day. Sometimes you just need to take the dive and cut into the precious fabric!

And the table runner & place mats for my mother in law. They were incredibly tough for me to get through as the fabrics aren’t my taste, but if you saw her dark green &  red chicken themed kitchen you’d understand. It’s as though the fabric designer had been in her kitchen before coming up with this line.

Anyhow – now I’m driven to finish the charity quilt and this baby quilt before the new year so that my numbers for 2008 quilts will be two higher!

And then… who knows?!? My quilting future for 2009 is wide open! How exciting!

I’ve been sewing like crazy and will show you some gifts after tomorrow, but for the time being, just a some Christmas Birdies that I found very tough to photograph as I have no tree this year to hang them on… They are already hanging on my sister’s tree!

From this pattern, adjusted slightly so that I could add the ribbon to make them ornaments.
