And now for something completely different.

Ok – it’s not completely different – it is “me” in that it’s improv. pieced, but this is way out of my comfort zone!

Lantern Bloom Quilt beginnings

And I love it! Holes to fill and It’s going to be a full sized quilt so I have a long way to go but so far so good. In this photo the purple pops more than it does in person and what looks like black here is actually dark brown… I think that I’m only going to grow to like this more and more as I keep working on it. And I’m officially a purple convert! Don’t think that I’ll suddenly be using it tons, but I’m loving it in this quilt.

And it took about .2 seconds for me to fall in love with this Lantern Bloom fabric line.

Lantern Bloom close up

Normally I go for more graphic stuff, but this is some pretty pretty fabric… Ok – back to it!

So fascinating, I’ve never done a quilt with ‘holes to fill’ but I am now inspired. The lantern plant is the fabric that caught my eye when I first saw the quilt. Love it!

    Ooh, very interesting.
Question about process: are you just making it up as you go along in terms of block sizes? Then figuring out how to get them all together?

I am so mad at you! I bought this fabric for a quilt for my living room and I have been trying to come up with the design, something improvisational and modern, something I come up with on my own without a pattern. But now, I just want to copy yours! Really, I love it.
