I’m part of another quilting bee and Katy sent along some really beautiful Liberty fabrics. I had never worked with them before and they really were so lovely. After making a more traditional styled block, I couldn’t stop myself from using scraps to give them the wonky log cabin treatment. A mini quilt just appeared out of nowhere!
I’m in love with that central fabric and I thought it needed loads of solids around it to show it off. I’m not sure about these colors, it’s a bit too bright and pastel-y but it’s what I had in my stash. It was fun to finish a project in a matter of a couple of hours!

It’s lovely! I love the solids with the flower fabric.
Great little quilt! I love the fabrics.
i love that mini-quilt! great idea!
I like the colors–that center fabric is really nice. I love mini quilts for the same reason.
it’s so cute! i caught the mini quilting bug, too. again.
Really pretty – and your photography skills are great too!
I love your quilts, they look like fun to make. Your quilting I believe you told us in one of your earlier blogs is machine made. How do you do it so it looks like hand stitching.
Hi Jen,
My quilting is free motion on my machine. I don’t try to make it look like hand stitching – it just comes out the way it comes out! Ha! I use my darning foot with the feed dogs down. There’s a great conversation flickr here about it:

My biggest tip is practice practice practice! The more you do it the better you’ll get.

What a cute mini quilt. I free motion quilted my first table runner tonight. It was more fun than I thought it would be.
You amaze me – I love it.
Looks great Alissa… I love the colours… different to what you usually use but i really like them in this mini!! Lx
