So much quilt to baste!
I sew on a Janome Horizon Memory Craft 7700 QCP.

It’s gorgeous. Like a big beautiful puzzle. But basting it? Ugh–that HAS to be my least favorite part of quilting. Good luck with that…it will all be worth it when it is quilted.
But such a beautiful quilt! I’m sure you can’t wait until it’s finished. I’ve got some Lantern Bloom at home waiting for a project.
I hate basting. Really i is the one thing that could put me off quilting. I know how lame that is but dang there has to be an easier way! Good luck however long it takes you’ll have a beautiful quilt at the end.
Your quilt is beautiful, I’ve been meaning to tell you that
I baste my quilts like you do, I like to put on movies while I am basting, it helps a lot, then I like to lay down on the couch half way through to stretch my back out! LOL!
When you baste, do you use the tool Kwik Klip? http://www.paulajeancreations.com/kwik-klip.html
to help you close the pins? it’s a lifesaver, I can’t live without mine.
It is soooo gonna rock when you’re done, though!

I too use a tool for closing the pins for basting – a broken off bamboo skewer. LOL Just means more money for fabric.
Beautiful quilt, but I’m with you, I hate basting. When is someone going to come up with the Quilt Basting Fairy?
At least you don’t have to re-pin or (more likely) trim those tiny bits of carpet that get caught in the safety pins.

Basting just goes with the territory. My pin closer of choice is the teaspoon – works like a charm. If only I had a pin opener…

But, I *love* the pin basting. Sometimes, I feel as if it’s the most powerful hips, buns and thigh workout there is, using good form that is!

…and this is why I use basting spray! I admire anyone who has the patience to attach so many saftey pins. also hand sewing the back of the binding…I have no patience for that either.
& this would be my #1 reason i love my frame… i stick myself too much with those pins!!

I feel your pain for basting….my solution, after two oversized queen quilts, no more…my other solution: basting adhesive spray (I found some at Jo-Ann’s for about $10 and good for several queen quilts), my best friend…works great, but you really have to take your time to made sure you don’t end up with a couple wrinkles in the middle of the quilt.
