Exciting news!
Some very happy news out of my world today!
I’m thrilled to announce that I will be writing a book with Kristen, my co-host of Block Party and we are so excited.
C & T Publishing will publish it and it’s going to be about YOU! Ok, well, maybe not you specifically, but about all of us: the online modern quilting community.
It’s not going to be your usual book of quilt patterns and projects, but instead a “how to” book that will also be about all of the virtual quilting bees and the amazing sense of community that we have found online. Quilting bees have always given women a chance to get together and quilt, but now in the age of the Internet we have virtual quilting bees that have revitalized quilting and community among modern quilters.
I’m so excited that every member of Block Party has agreed to be a contributor to the book. There are so many talented women involved and I’m so honored to include myself among them.
And the most exciting part is that we’re going to be including all of YOU in the book too! We are going to be switching our Block Party blog over to a quarterly quilt along and we hope that lots of you will participate. We are including photos of some of the blocks you all make during the quilt alongs in the book, so please do join in. Your block might end up in the book!!
There will be more details coming along very soon so please keep an eye both here and over on the Block Party blog.
And lastly, thank you! All of you are so kind and generous and have made me feel like I’m a part of something exciting. We are so happy to have that wonderful community and energy transfer over into a book that represents all of us and the fun modern quilts that we have been creating.

How exciting! I have been thinking that the online quilting/blogging/Flickr-ing/quiltalong-ing community would make a great book! I have become so much more excited and inspired by quilts I have seen online than most of the books published (with some very notable exceptions). I’m so glad that someone is actually doing it! I’m sure it will be a wonderful and FUN project!

It sounds great! I always appreciate how-to books – especially when breaking out into something new for me. I’ve enjoyed watching the progress of some virtual bees and find them inspiring. I’m sure the book will be the same! Congrats!

This IS exciting news!! C&T is such a top-notch publishing company and I’m sure this will be a marvelous book with all the collaborative efforts of everyone. Having just participating in two online block exchanges, it will be great to follow along with this. Yay for all of us in the online quilting community! It just keeps getting better and better.

What a great idea for a book! I am fairly new to this online quilting world, and I have yet to join a Bee, but I love it and am constantly inspired by your work and others’ work. I love spending quiet times (I have a preschooler, so those quiet times can be hard to come by) surfing through quilt blogs. I love modern quilting as it goes hand in hand with my professional career (architecture).
I can’t wait to see and buy the finished product. I hope I can join in on a quilt-along too.

Congratulations!! What great news! You’ve been such an inspiration to me and your work deserves to be published. The virtual bee is really a wonderful reflection of the online quilting community. I’m pleased to hear that this will be in your book.
Also, I’m inspired to try and start a northern CA modern quilting guild. We’ll see if because of you, there is a national trend to do this!

Congrats! That’s really exciting. I was going to also comment that I love your rug and wondered if there was a story to it, since it looks so unique, but then I just noticed that you posted that it was your sister’s house. Anyway, if you know anything about it, I’m still curious..it’s beautiful. And congrats again!
