I’m headed out for the weekend to the 1st annual LAMQG retreat!
There’s no packing lightly for these things, is there??
I’ve never been on a quilting retreat but I suspect that lots of good times are ahead. Here’s what I do know: the (100% self-appointed) Cocktail Committee has invented a drink they have named The Seam Ripper. Do you think that other guilds invent themed cocktails for their retreats?

I have that same Jo-Ann bag:) It is great because you can stuff so much in them. I hope you guys have tons of fun!
Oh I am quite jealous! You get to sew all weekend and have special cocktails too???? Have fun. Wish I was going with you!
Sounds like a blast! Love that you have a cocktail committee… Maybe you can share the recipe when you get back
I have been on a sewing retreat and it was a lot of fun. I got sooo much done! Just be sure to get up and stretch, I was sore after a whole weekend sitting! Please share your drink recipe when you get back too! : )
again, i say i wish i was going! i know you girls will have fun, though…can’t wait to hear about it at the next meeting!
One of our retreaters brings “Pudding shots” in little plastic cups. They are made with vanilla instant pudding and Bailey’s. She passes them out about 10 PM. Good idea to think of a special name for them!
Also someone at our retreats brings a 2 hour timer. When it rings we all get up and are led through some stretches, especially for backs, necks and shoulders. [ And then there are the $50 massages on Saturday. Sooo wonderful!]
So jealous! Have a wonderful time and don’t drink too many “seam rippers” or you may not get anything done!
Ha I’m L M A O – “Seam Ripper”. Good times ahead for sure. I’m sorry I’m not going. Sewing Themed Cocktails…Loving it.
Have a good time that sounds so FUN!
Have a blast! I LOVE retreats! I’m running a day retreat for the Vancouver MQG tomorrow and I bet most of them will bring the same amount of stuff you’re taking for the entire weekend – you are absolutely right. No such thing as packing light. All this talk of retreat cocktails is so funny – We’re a wine crowd (always save your FMquilting for post happy hour!) although I’ve seen a lot of real life seam rippers busy “the morning after” removing evidence of “the sewing done the night before”. haha.
Retreats are so much fun! I always end up packing way more than I need but it’s great to have some choices for what you want to work on. Have a great time!
Oh wonderful! I’m jealous
A cocktail committee for a quilt guild is simply brilliant. Can’t wait to hear how it goes.
LOL! Seam Ripper. That’s awesome. Have fun. : )
ohhh..I wish I were there! The Seam Ripper, love it! I’m new to LAMQG, soooo next year?!
I can’t wait to hear more about the retreat!
You will have a wonderful time! I go to 5 or 6 retreats a year – I wouldn’t miss them for the world. I’d love to know what’s in a seam ripper. Have fun!
You are going to love retreat! It is the best!! And yes, some ladies from one of my retreats invented a cocktail for our retreat although I don’t drink so I can’t tell you what it was or if it was good.
The New England peeps are having their retreat the last weekend in April in beautiful Kennebunkport, ME……..care to share that cocktail recipe?
