Quilt socializing.

Another successful meeting of the L.A. Modern Quilt Guild earlier this week!  We have so much fun.

We had an amazing quilt show & tell.

Quilt Show & Tell

Wendy & her mother made this quilt together, and started it at the Denyse Schmidt improv. piecing workshop that they took together.  Isn’t it beautiful? There are a couple of other members of the guild who have also taken this workshop and I’m green with envy!

There were so many other beautiful quilts.  Click on over to the flickr group to see them all.

And there was some frenzied fabric swapping!

Fabric Swapping!

I tell you, there’s nothing like getting together with 30 or so other people who understand the obsession!  We are just getting started but I know that big things are in store for the guild.  Workshops, speakers, more swaps, field trips… we’re gonna do it all! So if you’re local and haven’t joined us yet, please do!  And if you’re not local, we hope you’ll visit us if you’re in the LA area. Or start a modern guild of your own! We’d love to be a united nation organization some day. Why not think big, right?

I am not part of the local quilt guild, but I definitely would join a “modern quilt guild.” Maybe I SHOULD start one here. Fabric swapping frenzy. Sounds fabulous.

Sounds fabulous! I love the idea of a Modern Quilt Guild and would definitely join one if it existed in Vancouver, BC, Canada!

You are so lucky to have a group of like minded quilters that you can actually meet with in the flesh!
(and I am a bit green with envy, too!)

Oh, what beautiful quilts. I had a few quilts in a quilt sale on the weekend. When I went for a look at the other work mine def stood out as being in the “modern” range.

Maybe I can get a Modern Quilt Guild started here. Though I’m not much one for starting group.

What a great evening! Lovely fabric and quilts!!

I might be down in L.A. in late January, and if I am you can bet I will come to one of your events!!

And… if maybe we can talk about making this an international guild?! I live in Toronto and we don’t have a Modern Quilt Guild but I would sure love to be a part of one, so maybe I can start your sister organization?
