Scrap mania!

I’m taking my time and being very thorough with the sewing room set up.  Yesterday that meant a major scrap sort!

Presort:

Pre Sort-

And post sort!

Post Sort

I’m not great about using my little scraps but maybe if they are sorted by color I will? In any case, I have more than I’ll ever use and should give some to you. Comment with your two favorite colors and I’ll pick a couple of winners on Monday.  A scrap pack will then be on it’s way to you!  Good luck and happy weekend to you all!

Orange and green! I was looking through my paltry bag of scraps yesterday and I definitely need to build some up for some projects I’d like to do.

    Thanks for the opportunity!

  3. beth July 23, 2010 at 9:38 am #

  4. Cindy July 23, 2010 at 9:45 am #

  5. Barbara July 23, 2010 at 9:47 am #

Oh I would pick green and brown. A colour combo I love and need to break away from but just can’t.

  6. Corey July 23, 2010 at 9:48 am #

Orange and pink. Love that combination!

  9. Wendy O. July 23, 2010 at 9:54 am #

They all look so great, but brown and green are my favorite colors. What a great giveaway! Thanks so much.

  10. JaiCi July 23, 2010 at 9:59 am #

My 2 favorite colors are red and black, but I hardly ever use them when quilting….
When quilting I use a lot of blues and yellows!

  11. Marlena July 23, 2010 at 9:59 am #

I love the lime greens and aquas! I dread sorting scraps but seeing yours all sorted just made me add this to my todo list for this weekend. :) The baskets look gorgeous!

Greens and Oranges! Thanks for the chance to enter, your baskets are really cute! =)

  13. Jaclyn July 23, 2010 at 10:01 am #

How pretty … I love those baskets! And what a wonderful giveaway – I am currently working on a large string quilt and your scraps would make a lovely addition. My favorite colors are pink and orange!

  14. Andy July 23, 2010 at 10:02 am #

I applaud you for taking time to set everything up so nicely. My closet is tidy, but not nearly as organized as you. I have good intentions, but once I set foot in my sewing room all I want to do is sew and any thoughts of cleaning or organizing fly right out the window!

Thanks for sharing your scraps – my favorite two colors would have to be reds and blues!

  15. Leslie July 23, 2010 at 10:03 am #

Really hard, mmm I will pick my girls favorite colors right now, pink and orange

  16. Caro July 23, 2010 at 10:03 am #

Ooh! I love a good scrap sort. It’s so cathartic. I’m a purple and green girl, myself.

  17. Sally July 23, 2010 at 10:04 am #

    Pink and Blue!

  18. Ashley July 23, 2010 at 10:08 am #

Love scraps. I always feel like I’ve made something for free when I use them up! And, I have always loved blue and green together.

  19. Heidi J July 23, 2010 at 10:10 am #

I love the browns and violet/reds. Thanks for sharing!

  20. 2hippos July 23, 2010 at 10:13 am #

I’ve been on an orange kick lately, loving deep, rich oranges. Really all deep, jewel colors! As for another color, blue is always my go-to favorite, but I’ll go with yellow since I realized how few yellow fabrics I have in my stash. thanks for the giveaway!

  21. Alisa July 23, 2010 at 10:15 am #

Right now I;m loving green and brown. Earth tones always appeal to me but bright is good too. It’s so hard to pick a favorite color….happy cleaning!

  22. Emily C July 23, 2010 at 10:16 am #

That would be green and blue!

  23. PaulaK July 23, 2010 at 10:19 am #

I love scraps and my stash is low on purple/lavender and orange/peach! You are so kind to give away your scraps!

  24. Emily D July 23, 2010 at 10:20 am #

    blue and orange!

  25. Joan July 23, 2010 at 10:30 am #

Are those brown and black scraps I see? If those are brown and black scraps then brown and black would be wonderful.

  26. Lucia July 23, 2010 at 10:30 am #

I love scraps! I’m doing a scrappy leaders & enders project and need more scraps to cut up into 2″ squares.

I’d love to have some of your purple and green (or yellow!) scraps. I literally have 2 (yes, TWO) purple print scraps and my green (and yellow) scraps are sorely lacking. I feel kind of bad for them. I need to be a little more well rounded with my scraps. Ha.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  27. Mikelle July 23, 2010 at 10:33 am #

I’m making a doll quilt out of purple scraps for my niece(its her favorite color), only I don’y have any purple scraps. This would be awesome!
I would also love the aqua.

  28. Sarah July 23, 2010 at 10:37 am #

    orange and brown! thanks!

  29. Kendra McCuistion July 23, 2010 at 10:40 am #

What a good idea….My stash defitely is lacking in green and pink so those would be my first choices. I LOVE scrappy quilts!

  30. Nicole July 23, 2010 at 10:41 am #

how nice of you to share! I love blue and orange, well actually I love blue and my son loves orange so now I find myself gravitating to orange too

  31. donna July 23, 2010 at 10:44 am #

I’m loving orange and green right now. Fun!
I’m jealous of your organizational prowess!

  32. Lindsay July 23, 2010 at 10:45 am #

Scraps are so much fun. I love scrappy quilts. I always have a soft spot for orange and yellow.

  33. Kate K July 23, 2010 at 10:46 am #

So nice of you to share and so impressive for you to have color coordinating baskets for your scraps. My favorites are pink and brown. Thank you!

  34. Tina Hansen July 23, 2010 at 10:49 am #

I know what I most gravitate toward, but would rather try something I might not be inclined to purchase. I recently saw a sample of purples and bright greens that caught my eye, so I would like to try those colors. Thank you for the nice offer.

  35. kaelin July 23, 2010 at 10:58 am #

Thanks for sharing your scraps! My favs are blue and green :)

By the way, a lady contacted me through our New Orleand MQG page and wanted to send me some issues of “FabShop News” to pass around at our next meeting. I was reading through it and saw that you & the MQG were featured in an article! How exciting!

  36. Andy July 23, 2010 at 11:03 am #

My scraps are also sorted by color into boxes. It works great for me – if I’m evaluating a project/block and decide that it needs a bit of x color, I know where to look.

As for colors, I’m currently “collecting” for a red and aqua quilt.

  37. Amy July 23, 2010 at 11:06 am #

I adore scraps and have made some really fun things out of them! If I win I would love orange and green — my FAVES right now! Thanks for the chance!

  38. Lisa M. July 23, 2010 at 11:06 am #

I have my scraps sorted by shape. Probably not the most efficient way….color makes more sense. Love your little baskets. I am collecting red, white, blue scraps and small scale prints of any color for a couple of projects on the back burner. Thanks for the chance!

  39. Ellen Ban July 23, 2010 at 11:07 am #

I sorted my scraps into plastic rolling carts with drawers. Each drawer holds a different color and I use a lot more of my scraps now!
My colors of 2010 so far are orange and aqua.

  40. Yael July 23, 2010 at 11:12 am #

Ooh! so pretty! I love the greens and the browns!!!!
    Hope I win!…

  41. Corky July 23, 2010 at 11:22 am #

When sorting scraps I am always torn between three options: 1. Will I use the scrap bin to find that little piece of yellow for the center of my flower or 2. Will I be making a scrap quilt based on lights and darks or 3. Will I be looking for strips of fabrics of all colors.

Here’s my dilemma: for options 1, sort scraps by color, but for option 2, sort scraps light and dark and for options 3, sort by size and shape

So, do we have a red box, arranged by light and dark? Are the strips in with the triangles? How can we grab all the lights if they are all mixed in by color.

ARGH!!! and the big question is: Why dig for that itty bitty piece when I have HUGE yardage enough to last me 5 lifetimes???

You see why life makes me crazy?

  42. Corky July 23, 2010 at 11:25 am #

Oops, forgot to let you know my fav colors: right now, probably red and aqua. I am collecting to make a sofa quilt. I am also make an orange and teal sofa quilt. Thanks!

  43. Courteney July 23, 2010 at 11:29 am #

If I absolutely HAD to pick I would go with blue and orange… but they are all so beautiful! I love scraps!!

  44. mary July 23, 2010 at 11:29 am #

I love your scraps! That basket of green looks tempting, and I love red too.

  45. Tam July 23, 2010 at 11:32 am #

How delightful! Green and orange are definitely my current faves. We’re moving into a new house soon and I’m planning to fill the walls with mini-quilts.

  46. Wendy July 23, 2010 at 11:39 am #

well I can’t say they are my fav, but I am def short on greens and blues and need to boost those color sections! Yay for new spaces!

  47. Jeni July 23, 2010 at 11:41 am #

Ahhh, scraps. I don’t have enough! I love green and orange or green and red. Ok really, I like them all!

  48. Mary Ann July 23, 2010 at 11:41 am #

    green and blue…what a great idea..this maybe my motivation…
