Rectangles & Gray.

Wish I had a more exciting name for this quilt because I’m so happy with how it came out.

I improv. pieced wonky rectangular blocks like I did with the Lantern Bloom quilt, using the gray to unify all the blocks. It’s a lap quilt, measuring 48″ x 59″.

I love this quilt. I [...]

Lantern Bloom quilt is finished!

Here it is in all its super colorful glory.  I should note that the dark color is a chocolate brown, not black as it looks in the photos.

This quilt is a commission and the Lantern Bloom fabric was requested.   This flickr photo, along with the colors in the fabrics inspired the quilt.
It’s such a uniquely [...]

You are all so nice.

Thank you all so much for all of your kind comments about the book!  The response makes me so happy. It just reinforces all of the ideas behind the book concept.  It’s going to keep me super busy over the next few months so you’ll have to forgive me if the blog mellows as a [...]

Exciting news!

Some very happy news out of my world today!
I’m thrilled to announce that I will be writing a book with Kristen, my co-host of Block Party and we are so excited.
C & T Publishing will publish it and it’s going to be about YOU!  Ok, well, maybe not you specifically, but about all of us: [...]

Fall?

So fall was here. And then it got replaced by summer again. LA weather is weird. Anyhow – to stay in the fall spirit I quickly whipped up this pillow sleeve.

The deer get all the props in Lush, but you can’t deny the trees!   That said, I couldn’t leave the deer out [...]

A bit of bee catch up

Some blocks for two of the bees I’m in…
Some wonky stars for 12 Squared.

and some houses for Sew Connected 2!  You’ve seen the dog before, it’s just taken me forever to get to making the second little house.  Let’s pretend that the wind blew the roof to one side a bit.

Happy weekend!

I don’t like measuring.

A couple of questions came up about what my process of designing my latest quilt top is. The title of this post pretty much sums it up how I work.  I tend to wing it quite a bit!
It started like this…

Just a few random blocks that I made with no idea about how they would [...]

Lots of little details.

I’ve been getting lots of sewing details out of the way recently.
I made a cute sample quilt for my class later this month.

It’s little – 24″ x 36″ and makes me realize I need to branch out in my quilting more. I love the texture all these straight lines give it.

Also  stitching up labels…  [...]

My Block Party Quilt

The quilt that I made with all of the women involved in Block Party, a virtual quilting bee, is finished and it’s beautiful!

Each and every block in this quilt is perfect.

Right?? I’m so lucky this is mine.
If you click through to this photo on flickr, you can see a collage with a photo of each [...]
