This and that.

Is what my weekend sewing was filled with!

I pulled fabrics for a new quilt.  I’ve decided to completely indulge my love of red & aqua.  I haven’t made a full quilt in only those colors before, so it’s time!

Red & Aqua Fabric

Then I got started on some blocks!

Red & Aqua Blocks

I got a fat quarter of the amazing Paint By Number Birds in a swap with Ashley and have already cut into it!

Red Bird

I am not a fabric horder. Ok, if you saw my stash right now you’d probably disagree ’cause it’s big. But now that my job is over, I’m back on the buying ban (“except solids and batting!” – a phrase my husband hears over and over!) and I am gonna use my stash like crazy. Sometimes once it’s gone I miss an out of print fabric, but mostly if I use a fabric in a number of quilts, usually I feel like I’ve had my time with it. And plus, there’s always so much new fabric to focus on!!

Anyhow – otherwise, this weekend I made the back for my Block Party quilt. Still waiting on two last blocks but am gonna put this baby together the second I get ‘em!

Block Party Quilt Back

And lastly I caught up on my last due bee block! This one is for Sew Connected 2.

Sew Connected 2 - May

Hope that you all have great weeks. I know that I will since unemployment is back and that means sewing sewing sewing sewing and a bit more… well… sewing!

I LOVE the aqua and red combo! I’m sure the finished quilt will be stunning!
Unfortunately I had a very NON-sewing weekend as the weather was perfect and I had a lot of pool time and boating/swimming time :-) Not a bad thing for my tan, but awful for my poor lonely sewing machine – meh~

This is going to be an AWESOME quilt! I like all the white in it.

(I love that blue with the white circles on it- I’ve seen that before but am not sure where…)

I have been forcing myself to use some of my favorite hoarded fabric lately. I try to keep at least a tiny piece for a quilt for myself and then I won’t “forget” it. LOL! And you’re so right about all the pretty new stuff.

As you probably know I love ANYTHING red and aqua, especially with those wonky blocks. Its fabulous. And hopefully you’ll get your block party blocks soon since wasn’t your month January??!! Even though I must admit it still seems like March, this winter/spring went so fast! Lovely fabrics as always!

Beautiful! I have some red birds coming from that swap too – maybe I’ll do something similar :) also – what is that ladybug fabric in the top photo, close to the top?

  12. Cate Says:

I agree with you on favourite fabrics. As much as I love them, I don’t need 10 projects with that fabric. After 3 or 4 times it is time to move on. Otherwise my quilts might all start looking the same.
Love this combo, I’m debating a similar one myself.
