Today is my stop on the We Love Color blog tour.
I blogged a while back about the book and my quilt that is included. The book features lots of beautiful quilts!
The focus of the book is all quilts made with only Kona Cotton solids. I’m supposed to pick my favorite Kona cotton color and that’s incredibly hard to do! Do I go with the one I use the most (Coal) or with a more vibrant fun color?? I guess I’ll go with something more exciting than a neutral and pick the yellow in this quilt because I love it a lot… Butterscotch. It’s a great color!
And did you know that there are 28 great new Kona colors?
As part of the tour we were asked to feature one of the new colors, and mine is Parchment which you can see in the photo above, third from the top on the right. It’s a nice tan-ish, taupe-ish neutral. There are so many great new vibrant colors!
The book tour has been running for awhile now and is wrapping up soon but you have another chance here to win a copy of the book and a bundle of all of the 28 new Kona Cotton colors! Comment telling me what you love about sewing with solid fabrics and I’ll post a winner on July 11th. Good luck!

I love it because it’s a blank slate…you can appreciate it as pure color, pair it with prints, embellish the heck out of it…whatever you fancy.
I love how solids can really pull out the colors and lead to a cohesive final product when working with lots of patterns. I also love the boldness and brightness of a quilt made entirely of solids. My favorites are always the ones that are so bright they almost hurt your eyes, like citrus in the new colors.
I love that the pureness of the colour is able to stand out, your eye goes to the overall picture, not just the different prints.
I used all solids once and found them very comfortable, flexible, I do not know how to put it
I love using solids in my quilts. Being a longarm quilter having some solid space on the quilt to show off some of the quilting is a plus.
I do love prints, but I like solids to help ease the eye a bit. I use solids a lot when I paper piece too. Thanks!
I love the new Parchment too. Can’t wait to see the new colors in person and get a hold of the book.
I enjoy sewing with solid colors because they are bright, crisp and more versatile.
I love solids because of the contrast they provide.
Solids are the tie that binds. Once a solid is chosen, I am so ready to pick coordinating prints or other solids.
I love solids because of the effects you can get by using many shades of one color – the richness this technique provides is amazing to me.
