The random number generator picked number 92 which means the winner is… Paula K!
Congrats and keep an eye out for an email from me!
Congrats Paula K!
I have a sewing question: I notice that you have sewn around the edge of your quilt before binding it. How do you do this (is it all three layers sewn together or just the top sewn at the edge)? Do this help the quilt stay tight and taught during the quilting process? I baste with safety-pins and sometimes, despite using a billion pins, still run in to some quilt shifting during quilting.
What you’re seeing is a zigzag stitch that I put around the edge of the quilt after I’m done quilting, but before I put the binding on. I don’t always do this, but when I have a quilt with portions at the edges that are unquilted I find it can help to keep the edges all in place as I sew the binding on. It’s definitely not something you want to do before you quilt as, like you mentioned, there can be some shifting and you want your top free to move so that it can stay smooth.
I am so excited to be the winner! Thank you so much for your generosity and for your continued inspiration! I can hardly wait to look through the book and to see the new Kona colors! Thank you, Alissa! Thank you, Robert Kaufman!
